Why go
The city of Antalya wraps around a Roman harbor, with the lanes of the old quarter, Kaleiçi, climbing up from the water past Hadrian's Gate. Behind it rise the Taurus Mountains, and on either side runs the Turkish Riviera: Lara and Belek to the east, with long sandy beaches and championship golf, and Kemer and the Lycian coast to the west, where pine forests meet clear turquoise water.
The region has more sunshine than almost anywhere in the Mediterranean and some of the largest and most complete resorts in Europe and the region. It is also rich in history, with Perge, Aspendos and Termessos within easy reach. For the wider country, see our Türkiye luxury vacation guide.

Fly nonstop from the US to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, then connect to Antalya in about an hour and twenty minutes. Antalya is one of Türkiye's busiest airports, with many direct flights from Europe in season and a general aviation terminal for private jets. Superyachts can berth at the marinas of Antalya and Kemer; see our page on private jet charter.

Antalya is not yet part of the Michelin Guide Türkiye, so the best tables are often inside the leading resorts, many of which run Turkish, Italian, Japanese and seafood restaurants of a high standard. In the old town, look for terrace restaurants above the Roman harbor serving fresh fish, meze and regional dishes such as piyaz, a white-bean salad made with tahini. See our wider guide to the finest restaurants in the region.
Things to do
Walk Kaleiçi and visit the excellent Antalya Museum, home to statues from Perge. Attend a summer performance at Aspendos, one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world. Play a round on the championship courses of Belek, among the best golf courses in the region. Take a private boat to the Düden waterfalls, which tumble straight into the sea, or ride the cable car up Tahtalı mountain for views across the coast.
To the west lies the Lycian coast with Kaş, Kalkan and the sunken city at Kekova, ideal for a yacht trip. To the east, Side has a Roman temple by the sea. Antalya pairs easily with Cappadocia, Bodrum or Istanbul, each a short flight away.
Luxury property and residency
Antalya is one of the most popular places in Türkiye for international buyers, with sea-view apartments in Konyaaltı and Lara and villas in Kemer, Kalkan and Kaş. Qualifying purchases can lead to Turkish citizenship by investment. See our guide to residency and golden visas and prime Luxury Real Estate agencies.
