In brief

Egypt Vision 2030 in brief

Launched in 2016 and updated in 2023, Egypt Vision 2030 is the national Sustainable Development Strategy. It aligns Egypt's growth with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and focuses on quality of life, social justice, a competitive and diversified economy, knowledge and innovation, a sustainable environment and well-governed institutions.

In practice, the plan has driven one of the largest building programs anywhere: new cities, highways, ports, a high-speed rail network and major tourism investment. See the national visions of the Middle East for the wider region.

What Egypt's vision means for visitors

The headline is the Grand Egyptian Museum, a once-in-a-generation opening that, with the Pyramids next door, makes Giza a destination in itself. Upgraded airports, new Nile and Red Sea hotels and better roads make the classic Cairo, Luxor and Aswan journey smoother than ever. Begin with our Egypt luxury vacation guide, and consider Luxor and the Red Sea resorts of El Gouna.

What it means for investors

Foreigners may buy property in Egypt, and purchases above set thresholds can qualify for residency. The North Coast and Red Sea are the most active markets for second homes, alongside the New Capital. See Egypt Luxury Real Estate investment on the North Coast.
