Reaching Yas Island by train is about to get easier. Miral and Etihad Rail have agreed a partnership that will add a free shuttle between Yas Island's theme parks and Etihad Rail's Abu Dhabi station in Mohamed bin Zayed City, The National reported on October 21.

Free shuttle for Yas Island
Miral, the company behind Yas Island's attractions, and Etihad Rail have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on what transport planners call the first and last mile: the short journeys between a train station and where people actually want to go. The first result will be a free shuttle linking Yas Island's theme parks, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld, with Etihad Rail's station in Mohamed bin Zayed City. A start date has not yet been announced.
Lisa Goswell, senior vice president of sales at Miral Destinations, described the collaboration as an important step toward a more integrated journey for visitors. Adhraa Almansoori, executive director of commercial and support at Etihad Rail Mobility, said the aim is to make passenger rail a practical and convenient part of how people move across the country.
The station already has a link to the island. The Yas Express ER1 runs between the station and Yas Mall, leaving the station at 7:40 a.m., 1:05 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., with a journey of about 30 minutes, and returning from Yas Mall at 12:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Two AD Mobility bus routes, MR1 and MR2, connect the station with Abu Dhabi's Main Bus Station and Al Zahiyah, and paid shuttles to Reem Mall, ADNEC and ADNOC headquarters cost Dh10 a journey on top of the train fare.
Etihad Rail's passenger trains have run between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah since June 30, 2026, crossing the country from the capital to the east coast. Our page on luxury trains and rail in the region explains the network, and our look at the future of travel covers what comes next.
Yas Island
For visitors, the partnership points to an appealing kind of itinerary: a few days on Yas Island, with its theme parks, marina and Formula 1 circuit, then a train across the Emirates to the mountains and beaches of Fujairah. Our Yas Island guide and our page on the region's theme parks cover the first half, and our Fujairah resorts guide the second.
Families in particular will appreciate a free connection between the station and the parks. For more ideas, see our essay on Fujairah, the UAE's other coast.
