Saudi Arabia · Vision 2030
The NEOM project is Saudi Arabia's long-term plan for a new region on the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, and The Line is its best-known idea. Today NEOM is building in phases, led by its port, industry, energy and AI infrastructure.

At a glance
Announced in 2017, NEOM covers a stretch of mountains, desert and coastline in the far northwest of the Kingdom, facing Egypt's Sinai across the Gulf of Aqaba, with Jordan to the north. It sits at the heart of Saudi Vision 2030 and the giga-projects, and it was conceived as a place to test new ideas in energy, transport, design and technology.
NEOM now describes itself as a decades-long program built in stages, with each region moving at its own pace as demand grows. That is a practical way to read every NEOM headline: the long-term vision stays, while the order of building is set by what the economy needs first.

NEOM is a working project rather than a finished destination, so most visitors to the region stay along the open resorts of the Red Sea coast and in AlUla, then follow NEOM's progress from there. Our NEOM travel guide covers access, the coastline and what can be seen today.
For sailors, the northern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba are some of the clearest, least crowded waters in the region; see yacht itineraries in the Gulf and Red Sea.
What the NEOM project
For investors, the near-term story in NEOM is infrastructure: the port, logistics, renewable energy, hydrogen and data centers, many of them structured with international partners. Residential and resort opportunities will follow the phasing of each region.
