Morocco luxury vacations are about to have more places to stay. Radisson Hotel Group now aims to grow from 11 to 30 hotels in the kingdom by 2030, and local investors are buying, as visitor numbers climb toward another record, Morocco World News reported on October 19.
At a glance
International hotel groups are expanding in Morocco with confidence. Radisson Hotel Group, which operates 11 hotels in the country today, aims to reach 30 by 2030, according to Morocco World News. Erwan Garnier, its Associate Vice President of Development for Africa, described Morocco as a compelling opportunity for hotel development, supported by investment in infrastructure.
JLL's David Desta, Vice President for Hotels and Hospitality in Africa, pointed to visitor demand, air connectivity, government tourism initiatives and international brands as the forces drawing investors. As we reported last week in our piece on the $250 million boost for Casablanca's grand hotels, Morocco also has the second-largest hotel development pipeline in Africa, and about 70 percent of those projects are now scheduled to open in 2026 and 2027.
Risma, the listed Moroccan hotel owner, has made acquisitions worth $67 million since 2025, including a plot on the Tangier Corniche and the company that owns the Radisson Blu Marrakech Carré Eden. The Casablanca Stock Exchange, where it is listed, now has a market value above MAD 1 trillion, about $103 billion.
Investors, brands and operators will meet again at the third Morocco Showcase, organized by API Events at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca on November 26, 2026, with SMIT, Morocco's tourism development agency, as institutional investment partner. Murray Anderson, Commercial Director of API Events, spoke of an unprecedented commitment of global capital to the country.
Year in numbers
The demand is plain to see. Morocco welcomed 15.7 million tourists in the first nine months of 2026, up 5 percent, according to its Ministry of Tourism as reported by TravelMole, after a record 19.8 million in 2025. September alone brought more than 1.5 million arrivals, 8 percent more than a year earlier. Travel receipts reached MAD 97.9 billion, about $10.7 billion, through August, up 9.7 percent.
Growth reached well beyond the classic stops. Overnight stays in classified hotels rose 23 percent in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and the kasbahs, 16 percent in Rabat, 11 percent in Agadir, and 10 percent each in Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier. The government's target for 2026 is 21 to 22 million arrivals, and the country projects more than 26 million visitors a year by 2030, when it co-hosts the FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
For travelers, the result will be more choice in the cities that already draw the most visitors and new reasons to go further.
