Jeddah Tower passes 480 meters

Jeddah Tower, the skyscraper designed to become the world's tallest building, has completed its 120th floor. In an update published by Kingdom Holding on November 2, 2026 and reported this week by Arabian Business and Construction Week, the tower stood at about 482 meters, with more than 322,000 cubic meters of concrete poured. That is about 72 percent of all the concrete the building will need.

The façade is keeping pace with the structure: more than 3,900 façade panels are already in place, and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is advancing floor by floor. Kingdom Holding's chief executive, Talal Al-Maiman, expects the tower to reach about 500 meters before the end of 2026. Time Out reports that the tower is rising at about one floor a week, with a workforce of around 5,200.

Building of more than

A building of more than a kilometer

When complete, Jeddah Tower is planned to stand about 1,008 meters tall, according to Fabien Toscano, chief executive of Jeddah Economic Company, the developer. That would make it the first building to pass the one-kilometer mark, well above the 828 meters of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, with Thornton Tomasetti as structural engineer. Its three-sided form tapers as it rises, a shape that helps it stand calmly in the wind off the Red Sea. Saudi Binladin Group is the main contractor under a SAR 7.2 billion (about $1.9 billion) agreement signed in October 2024, and completion is targeted for 2028.

Jeddah Tower is the centerpiece of Jeddah Economic City, a new district in the north of the city. Our guide to Jeddah Tower and Jeddah Central follows both projects, and our overview of Saudi Vision 2030 and its giga-projects places them among the kingdom's other great works.

What the tower will hold

The plans include a Four Seasons hotel, offices, apartments and what is planned as the world's highest observation deck, with views across Jeddah and the Red Sea. Construction Week reports that the apartments are expected to go on the market in 2027, a moment that will interest buyers following Luxury Real Estate in Saudi Arabia. Seeing it for yourself

The tower is already a landmark on the northern skyline, and it is easy to include in a visit to the city. Jeddah is at its best from November to March, when evenings on the Corniche are mild. Our Jeddah travel guide covers the coral-stone houses of Al-Balad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the finest hotels along the sea, from The Ritz-Carlton, Jeddah to the Waldorf Astoria Jeddah, Qasr Al Sharq.

From Jeddah, the new resorts of the Red Sea coast are a short flight away; our guide to the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia describes them, and the Journal recently covered the Grand Hyatt opening on Shura Island.
