Why go

Why go to Qiddiya

Qiddiya City is planned as a whole city built around play: theme parks, motorsport, golf, sport stadiums, performing arts and homes, set on a dramatic plateau of the Tuwaiq escarpment. The full plan is described on our Qiddiya project page. For travelers, the story today is simpler: two big attractions are open and they are genuinely world class.

Six Flags Qiddiya City was inaugurated on December 29, 2025 and opened to the public on New Year's Eve. It is the first Six Flags park in the Middle East, with 28 rides across six themed lands. Aquarabia Qiddiya City, the water park, opened in 2026 with 22 rides and water adventures across eight zones.

Combine a day here with the history and dining of Riyadh and Diriyah, and compare it with the region's other parks on theme parks and entertainment.

Qiddiya City

Eight roller coasters lead the line-up, headed by Falcons Flight: about 640 feet tall, reaching roughly 155 mph over a 2.6-mile track, a ride that launches off the edge of the cliff. Gentler rides and shows suit younger children. Buy tickets on the official park site.

Where to stay

Qiddiya has no luxury hotel open yet, so the best plan is to stay in Riyadh and drive out. The Four Seasons at Kingdom Centre, The Ritz-Carlton and The St. Regis are all within about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic; see the full list in our Riyadh hotels guide and the region-wide finest hotels. Hotels inside Qiddiya City are part of the long-term plan, with dates to be confirmed.

A chauffeur makes the day easy, especially with children; see chauffeurs and self-drive.

Tips for a luxury

Tips for a luxury day at the parks

Arrive at opening time, when queues are shortest and the air is coolest. Look on the official site for express or VIP options, which can include front-of-line access. The plateau is higher and breezier than the city, but summer afternoons are still very hot, so October to April is the best season. Modest, comfortable clothing is the norm; at the water park, follow the posted swimwear rules.

For families, our family travel guide covers childcare, car seats and which parks suit which ages.

Nearby

Qiddiya sits on the same Tuwaiq escarpment that forms the famous Edge of the World viewpoint northwest of Riyadh, so a guided 4x4 trip to the cliffs at sunset makes a natural second day. Back in the city, the restored lanes of At-Turaif in Diriyah and the National Museum balance the thrill rides with Saudi history, while Riyadh Season events in the cooler months add concerts and sport. Travelers with more time can fly on to AlUla or the Red Sea resorts, both about 90 minutes by air.
