Qatar Airways Qsuite is heading to a brand-new airport. On October 20 the airline announced nonstop flights between Doha and Western Sydney International from December 15, 2027, on a Boeing 777-300ER with 42 Qsuite seats in Business Class.

New route
Qatar Airways will begin flying between its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport, and Western Sydney International on December 15, 2027. The route starts with three flights a week: QR906 leaves Doha on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and QR907 returns from Western Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline says it plans to build to a daily service, and bookings open on December 19, 2026.
Western Sydney will become Qatar Airways' seventh gateway in Australia, joining Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. The new airport is designed to operate without the overnight curfew that shapes schedules at Sydney's existing airport, which gives airlines more freedom in timing their flights.
The route will use a Boeing 777-300ER with 354 seats: 42 in Business Class, all of them Qsuite, and 312 in Economy. Qsuite is the cabin that made Qatar Airways' name among frequent travelers, with lie-flat beds and sliding privacy doors, and center seats that can be brought together for couples and families traveling side by side.
Hamad Al Khater, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, called the launch the next chapter in the airline's long-standing partnership with Australia. Simon Hickey, Chief Executive Officer of Western Sydney International, said he was delighted that Qatar Airways is bringing its five-star service to the airport. Our guide to the best airlines in the region compares Qsuite with the other Gulf cabins.
Why it matters
For travelers from the United States, the news is a reminder of how far a single connection in Doha can take you. Through Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways links more than 170 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and its partnership with Australia is a long-standing one. A journey from the East Coast to Australia by way of Doha turns a long trip into two comfortable flights with a pause in between.
That pause can easily become a Doha stopover. A night or two in the city is enough to walk the Museum of Islamic Art's waterfront park, browse Souq Waqif in the cool of the evening and dine in Msheireb or on The Pearl. Our Doha guide lists the finest hotels, and our Qatar travel guide covers entry, seasons and the wider country.
Growing network
The Western Sydney service is supported by the airport's Take-Off Fund, jointly funded by the New South Wales Government and the airport, which is forecast to bring more than 162,000 international visitors to the region. The route will also add a cargo link for Australian exporters to Gulf markets.
